When he was very young, this The extent of his ability to remember things varies in unusual ways. He has a near-perfect visual memory, and his memory for scents and feelings is almost as good, but he has a comparatively difficult time recalling sounds. It was thought for a while when he was a kit that perhaps he had hearing difficulties, but he has no trouble detecting sounds in the moment; it's calling them back up that is the problem. This results in his having some trouble with names: should he be asked to give the name of a cat or an herb or a fighting move that he has only seen once, he may not be able, but he can describe them to you in terms of what he saw, smelled, felt, and did. When he is interested by something, Cedarpaw generally takes it very seriously. He can be extremely stubborn in this, often refusing to leave an interesting or difficult challenge facing him until he is certain he has solved it. If some cat tries to force him to leave off what he is doing partway through, at best he might be rather grouchy for a while, and at worst he will lose his temper at whoever stopped him from finishing, depending on how important he felt his original task was.[/classy] [classy=infotop]history[/classy][classy=infobottom]The last born out of the three kits in his litter, Cedarkit and his siblings were troublemaking little rascals from the day they opened their eyes. Medicine cat's stores trampled by little kit paws? Some cat call Ambercloud; she'll have to wash crushed herbs and berries off of Maplekit, Rowankit, and Cedarkit. All the bedding in the warriors' den torn apart and rearranged? Smells like Maplekit, Rowankit, and Cedarkit have been in here. And so on and so forth, for a good three moons, to the endless irritation of their Clanmates and the increasing frazzlement of their mother in particular. Their behavior was a bone of contention between their mother, who was running out of patience for constantly having to clean up after them, and their father, who thought it was adorable how much they all took after him. The reason this changed was because of Maplekit, the most irrepressibly curious and the slowest to learn among them, who almost succeeded in sneaking out of camp one evening but got caught in a thornbush. She learned nothing from the incident that stayed with her longer than it took to get the thorns out of her pelt, but the lesson of caution stuck for her littermates, who reined in themselves (and sometimes her, too) from that point on. All three littermates were apprenticed normally and on time, without anything particularly unusual happening. Cedarpaw's serious and curious nature benefited him in his apprenticeship, but all the same he never felt quite right about being a warrior, like his talents might serve better elsewise... As such, he requested to become the medicine cat apprentice.[/classy] |
