He was almost ghostly the way the sunlight, dappled by the treetops made the young cat's pure white pelt glow. It was also in the way he was so silent and how smoothly his movements flowed. Yes, this tom was very ghostly in the way he glided across the forest floor, pale aloe green eyes scanning his surroundings for white pelts similar to his.
Sometimes, Magnoliapaw could swear he saw a flash of white somewhere in his peripheral vision, but when he turned to look there was nothing but silvery birch trees and a vole or some rodent snuffling about. Every time this happened, the heaviness weighing down his belly would become even more noticeable. Each time, the apprentice's stomach would knot and wrench in grief.
They've all left me...Yarrow went to live with Comet off somewhere unknown and...and Cloudfrost is a coward...he abandoned our Clan out of self-shame...I need to find them...I need revenge on Cloudfrost for what he did to my mother. Yarrow...I need to get to know her. she's...she's all I've got left!
Squeezing his eyes shut, Magnoliapaw shuttered a painful breath, holding back the stinging tears in his eyes. Cowering, he trembled and bit back his wails. It was days like these; the ones where he had the free time to search for his family that he broke down. Was he not good enough to have a family like everyone else? Why must he feel so alone?
Shut up, you fool...what's the point in feeling miserable when you still have a Clan that loves you?....Even if you make it to where none of them really quite know you...
Gritting his teeth, Magnoliapaw stood back up, swiping the back of a paw over his eyes to clear the tears away. He needed to focus at the task at paw. He only had until sun down to search and it was already late morning. Forcing himself to pad on, the white tom found himself in a flowery meadow, full of lavender and chamomile. Wading through the thick patches of flowers, Magnoliapaw purred as he breathed in their calming scents and plucked a few of them to bring back to the medicine cat.
The heavy scent of the flowers had covered up a foreign scent. Although not completely hidden, Magnoliapaw could barely detect it. Thinking it a passing Clanmate, the apprentice ducked into a thick cluster of chamomile, hoping to not be seen. Being questioned was the last thing he wanted right now. Then again, he'd look foolish if he was caught. The green eyed cat pondered what to do, suddenly panicked. At the sound of an unknown voice made him panic even further and shrink into the flowers further.

Feeling unaccomplished was probably one of the worst feelings for a cat with a duty such as the red cat's, and frankly- the situation was disappointing. He was wasting his time was what he was doing- something his mentor, Panda, had taught him never to do. Make use of your time, he'd grumble in that old raspy voice of his. Even if you're learning something that seems completely useless at the time. The tom-cat didn't feel as if he had learned anything today because he hadn't done much- but maybe he had learned something. He mulled over his thoughts, trying to go back to what he'd seen today...
Oh- on that off chance, maybe he had learned something. Sunningrocks was the area between Riverclan and Thunderclan, and the two groups of feline were incessant on it being their own. Honestly, the observer found it absolutely ridiculous. They were a bunch of silly rocks that that were covered with some type of snake. Why would they bother with it? Another reason for him to find feline-kind a foolish race (not that he honestly thought any better of any other living being- they all seemed rather aggressive and meaningless in their actions).
Letting out a sigh in response to the ridiculous outcome of his thoughts and the sheer annoyance at what he'd actually learned today, the fluffy cat padded along the Riverclan border, deep in thought, but remaining alert in case of danger.
And it didn't take long for Lavi to catch wind of a feline out and about, and really, that wasn't very surprising in the least- what surprised him was the fact that he (the scent seemed male- he couldn't help but be a bit disappointed about that) was alone. Turning his head, ears perked and golden eyes focusing right on the spot the Riverclan cat had ducked into, the somali couldn't help but let out a purr of amusement.
"I know you're there~ What're you doing, hiding? You're within your territory," the male mrrow'd, sounding just as amused as the purr he let out moments ago. Letting his curiosity get the best of him, Lavi hopped on over the Riverclan border, poking his face between the chamomile plants to come face-to-face with the green-eyed, white-furred apprentice who was hiding (my, oh, my, he had shrunk back into the plant- hadn't he!?).
"Are you doing something wrrronggg, beansprout?" he questioned playfully. "Is that why you are hiding?" A mischievous feline grin spreading across his face. It wasn't malicious by far, just playful, and almost excited.

Not bothering to shake them off, he backed away from the red cat a few paces and cleared his throat nervously. His soft green eyes stared at the stranger with caution as he sized the fluffy tom up.
"Bean...sprout? That's not my name..."
A frown crossed his features, tail flicking with slight annoyance. The snowy cat then realized that there was a stranger in his Clan's territory and he needed to figure out why.
"Anyway, I didn't do anything wrong, I just thought you were one of my Clanmates...and what are you doing trespassing into Riverclan's territory?"
Taking a few steps close now, Magnoliapaw's frown deepened. He was losing confidence now. This loner or whatever he was was definitely bigger than him, and probably stronger. If it came down to it, he was probably faster as well. Although a great fighter, Magnoliapaw wasn't so sure he liked the idea of going up against this stranger. So, slowly letting his fluffed fur lay flat once more, the white apprentice canted his ears back shyly and looked off into the trees.
"Um....are you here because you hate my Clan or something? We don't really see that many non-Clanners...."
Magnoliapaw wasn't a generally talkative cat, but he'd only met two loners before and they'd been close to his heart. This one could be hostile, despite his playful exterior. The fact that he didn't know him made his wary immediately. His expression was the definition of uncomfortable.

He hadn't really meant to spook him like that, but what d'you know? Sometimes he just didn't know how scary he could be. Now he was struggling to not laugh at his own thoughts (come on, he was hilarious- because really, he knew for a fact he wasn't that visibly scary), but the fluffy cat's whiskers just twitched in his own private amusement. It was only a moment- him struggling to keep his cool and avoid bursting out into that ridiculous fit of laughter (that would be kind of offensive, wouldn't it?) and he was back to acting proper (his kind of proper).
"Hey, hey, I didn't mean to scare you.." he explained momentarily, almost sounding cautious, before nodding in affirmation towards the white apprentice as he repeated the nickname 'beansprout.' His face had brightened again, seeming just as excited as before (come on, he didn't always find a clan member who wasn't immediately trying to claw his face off).
"Yeah. You're kind of short. So you're a beansprout." His voice held the same amount of amusement before, though surely not sounding like he almost burst into laughter because of his own thoughts. His voice didn't change, but always the observer- Lavi was mentally recording the conversation. His feline brow lifted, his golden eyes focusing intently on the cat across from him. He thought he was a clanmate? Then, why hide?
"Why were y'hiding from your clanmates if you did nothing wrong?" he questioned, feigning true suspicion. Sure enough, he was curious, but he had no reason to feel any sort of suspicion towards the other. Not his clan, so really- just as the old Panda taught him- not his problem (or so, he kept trying to tell himself).
Lavi immediately took note of the white clan cat's fur flattening, his body seeming to change. He didn't have the same defensive stance- he seemed almost defeated (which, he was grateful to avoid a fight- it wasn't a fair one by far). But it was a shame really, that the apprentice (he assumed, by the age) thought he was here for negative reasons- just because he was a loner... of course- that's what they're taught in the clans.
Letting out a soft sigh after listening to the green-eyed tom's words, he shook his head, sitting down calmly to show that he wasn't a threat.
"Nah, I'm an observer. I'm just mentally recording stuff for the next generation of observers. To keep history of both the clans and outsiders... and everything beyond that alive. I have nothing against any of the clans- I have no side," he explained openly, seeing no reason to hide it. Realization set in that they hadn't really been properly introduced, and he shifted to sit in a different position before speaking again.
"I'm Lavi. And what's your name, beansprout?" There was definitely a teasing-glint in his eyes when he spoke those words.
