Lilacfoot treaded lightly today, mainly because it was raining and the ground underfoot was complete slush. She could feel the mud oozing its way between her paws, and as she searched for prey scent in the forest, she could feel the occasional speck of mud flinging up into her pelt. Lilacfoot hated the rain, but what cat didn't hate the rain? It wasn't the fact that that water was raining down from the heavens, it was the fact that rain threatened to wash away any trace of prey scent. The blue point feline opened her mouth to take in what scents remained, and to her relief, she caught the scent of a crow, and before she saw it, she heard he dark bird's eerie cawing.
Smiling, she stalked through the rain, surprisingly glad that the rain had soaked her pelt, hiding her scent from the prey. If you could discover prey scent in the rain, it would be the perfect time to catch prey for the clan. The large black bird was walking under the shelter of a large pine, and it appeared as if it was trying to crack an with its beak. Narrowing her eyes in an attempt to keep some of the rain from impairing her vision, the she-cat bounded through the rain, claws extended, and grabbed hold of the unsuspecting bird. Delivering a quick bite to its neck, she ended its life and dragged it away from its shelter.
The she-cat felt as if she weighed as much as a hundred pregnant queens. Dragging the crow through the mud, the soaked cat made her way back into camp. The large bird would surely enough make a decent meal for a full grown warrior, if they didn't mind their dinner being a bit soggy. Laying the crow on the fresh-kill pile, the warrior only just realized that her fur was caked in mud and grime. Sighing, the she-cat preceded to head for the warrior's den and shook her pelt, much to the frustration of nearby cats. "Sorry!" She meowed an apology as she retreated back outside, figuring that she would be better off elsewhere.
Somewhere dry..hmm. The she-cat bounded back out of camp and observed the area before finding an old tree with a hole in it near the base of it. Lucky me. Stepping into the entrance, the siamese found that the hole in the tree was quite roomy, for being a hole in a tree and all. The place smelled as if it had been home to a raccoon at one point, but it was long since gone. Shaking her pelt again, the warrior went to work at grooming her fur, her ears listening to the melodies of the rainfall.

All around her there was water. It trickled down her face, into her mouth. She thrashed about desperately trying to stay alive but it was just too much. Panic began to set in and she tried to scream, but nothing came out except more water. Just when she thought she would be joining the ranks of StarClan Briarleaf's head shot up and she hit the side of the side with a grumble. Coughing she spit out some water, noticing a small leak in the roof of the den. "Thank StarClan, I thought it was a premonition." she mewed.
Shaking her pelt Briarleaf gave herself a quick grooming before heading into the heart of camp. Most everyone was huddling out of the rain, the drops a steady rhythm on the camp floor. She couldn't help but chuckle at the sight, though at least that meant they were being smart. She'd had more trouble with cats catching white-cough and green-cough because of some wonderful showers.
Still, the rain wasn't too horrible, and Briarleaf knew she was getting low on tansy. Granted it wasn't the best herb for greencough but it did help to prevent it more often than not. Blinking she headed out of the camp, flicking her nub of a tail before heading off. Of course StarClan didn't seem to be on her side. Not only could she not find any tansy, it seemed like only a few pawsteps she had drug out and it started to pour. And not a light pour of course, no, a hard beating of water drops onto the earthy space where she stood.
Frustration set into Briarleaf's features and she grumbled before diving into a small space under a tree. The scent of the rain masked almost everything, but Briarleaf could still smell the faint traces of a raccoon and she widened her eyes in alarm when she saw another shape. Unsheathing her claws she prepared herself only to realize it was another cat. "Frog dung, I didn't know anyone else was out. My apologies Lilacfoot." Briarleaf meowed, suddenly feeling foolish for having been so hasty.
Of course one could never be too sure. Loners and rogues would often sneak through ShadowClan's territory and it was always better to be more prepared than not. When Briarleaf was an apprentice she had a run in with one such character. However, that was besides the point. Slowing her breathing, and she didn't even know her heart was beating so fast, she chuckled. "Seems the rain got to you before the rest of us, you look drenched." she purred. "I hope I won't be seeing you in my den because of it."

At first the tom could only feel a subtle drip from the heavens, but that soon turned to a heavy downpour as he threaded on through ShadowClan territory in search for lunch. All of the hunting patrols had been sent out that morning, leaving camp very empty with the cats who had not been assigned any duties. Being a loner withing the clan anyways, Vipertongue decided to go on a little hunt of his own. Since no patrol had been sent down near the lake, that's were the ShadowClan warrior decided to hunt. It hadn't been long until the rain had begun to fall, and he envied the cats who were smart enough to stay in their dens and sleep in with rain on the wind. Normally he was good with smelling a storm on its way, but this morning he must have been out of it or something.
Vipertongue did not have the most successful hunt, for the rain had soaked him to the bone within minutes because of his short, thin pelt. Only catching a few mice and a toad, he decided that his hunger was satisfied and made his way through the pine forest, uncomfortably, but swiftly. Back at camp, the skinny tom wanted to retreat to the warriors den to dry off. At that point, it was still quite early in the morning, and most of the first patrols were still out and about. As he stepped into the den, he realized the roof sprung a leak. Hissing in disgust, the tom didn't want anything to do with it. Instead, he headed out into the forest to find a better spot to dry off and take a power nap. He carried no scent, for he had mud caked in his fur and rain mixed with it. Vipertongue eventually came about an old raccoon nest in a hole in a tree. Clawing his way up, which was not far from the ground but far enough to not flood, he found that it was large and empty. The dark feline slunk into the corner and pressed himself up to the far wall were he would be invisible to anyone looking into the hole.
He supposed a few hours had gone by before he felt as if another bodice had entered his retreat. Opening and eye slightly, he could make a blurry shape of a cat huddled by the entrance. Thinking nothing of it in his groggy state, Vipertongue drifted back into a light sleep. Only a few minutes had passed when he could feel another cat rushing into the safety of the tree hole. Golden-yellow eyes wide open and alert now, the testy tom couldn't help but let out an annoyed hiss. The two she-cats, not noticing him at all, seemed to become closer to him as their medicine cat, Briarleaf, mewed to Lilacfoot, an exceptionally attractive she-cat in ShadowClan. He didn't let down on his annoyance, however, because a pretty she-cat was present. It was their fault for ruining his peace in the first place, obviously not picking up that another cat was in the tree hole.
"I'm here too, you know."Vipertongue's sleek voice dripped like raindrops through the hole. His hope was to scare the fur off of the girls for a little laugh. Snickering, he did his best to stretch his extremely lengthy limbs in his limited space, now occupying three cats. His snake-like head knocked the ceiling, making him hiss once more in the dark, damp hole. "Wonderful weather we're having..." This time the tom didn't chuckle, rather his voice now sounded dry with disgust. Crouching like the other two, he started to groom his pelt.
