While not the most rationally intelligent of the siblings, Squirrelfoot is extremely logistically intelligent, able to calculate trajectories and paths at light speed. This makes him both a lethal fighter (especially when combined with his thick, strong build that screams classic ThunderClan), and a skilled climber. Climbing is a large part of who Squirrelfoot is, his name having both foretold and labeled that key part of him. Unlike most of his fellows, Squirrelfoot feels the most at home with his paws firmly pressed against the bark of a tree. He can easily navigate the branches, vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. The fighting moves that the tom and his sister developed together have helped him develop an unusually strong ability to orient himself and regulate the momentum of his falls-- which are never accidental, thank you kindly.[/classy] [classy=infotop]history[/classy][classy=infobottom]Squirrelfoot is the eldest son of Aspenflower and Elmfang. He has one litter-sister, Hickorytail. The two were mischievous and adventurous from the get-go, escaping the nursery and camp to climb everything and anything they could. While Hickorykit was all brawn and brashness, Squirrelkit lived up to his prefix, scurrying up trees and planning. She was just as bright as he was, but only thought as far as the next branch, or the next jump. Squirrelkit would gaze up at a tree for hours, just memorizing its shape and the way the branches twined round each other. Only after memorizing the tree would he climb it; thanks to his observations, the young tom could maneuver through the tree almost effortlessly, wending his way to and fro sometimes without even looking. This skill only grew as he became Squirrelpaw under Sedgewhisker's tutelage. After a while, he could simply glance a tree over to know it as well as he had after observing for hours as a kit. Squirrelpaw came to feel more comfortable in a tree than on the ground, something that caused his enormous mentor no shortage of frustration. However, the pair worked around Squirrelpaw's almost-aversion to being on the ground, and Sedgewhisker managed to teach him how to fight and hunt with his paws firmly on the ground. Once the two both felt that Squirrelpaw had mastered what Sedgewhisker had taught him, the warrior allowed him to try and hunt in trees, and even (grudgingly) permitted Squirrelpaw's first clumsy attempts at dive-bombing him. Once Sedgewhisker realized the potential of Squirrelpaw's new fighting method, the two trained in the new form, continuing through Squirrelpaw's warrior ceremony. Once he was Squirrelfoot and Sedgewhisker was busy with a new apprentice, his sister Hickorytail helped him further develop the style. They made a name for themselves as formidable fighters and hunters in the trees. During the time the two were developing their techniques, Aspenflower became pregnant once more. She gave birth to a trio of kits, Willowkit, Pinekit, and Oak-kit. The three were rambunctious and followed their elder siblings around often. Squirrelfoot was assigned his younger brother Pinepaw. His little brother was not at all a climber, but he was an excellent fighter. When Pinepaw became a warrior alongside his siblings, Squirrelfoot and Hickorytail took being the loudest as a contest; the three were mightily embarrassed, and pleased by their older siblings' enthusiasm. Willowstorm, Oakstripe and Pineclaw had to suffer their siblings piling on top of them and curling up around them, with their amused parents off to one side. The family pile has endured to the current day.[/classy] |
