Some might say that he's egotistic, but don't let the flashy front he puts up fool you. While he is well aware that he's an attractive tom, Flameheart has the skills and mind to back up his assertions. He's a strong, fast fighter with a good tactical mind, and a whole heap of ambition. Yes, ambition. Flameheart here wants to lead ThunderClan one day. He has a lot of good ideas for the Clan, and has been pondering how best to lead and improve it since he was a young kit playing warriors-and-rogues. Flameheart is a good leader, too, with a very personal style. The tom makes sure to form a bond with each of "his" warriors, who in turn give their loyalty to him above Sootstar. His dream of leadership is ultimately unselfish and rooted in his caring for his fellows and Clan, and so they follow him faithfully. Aside from his qualities as a warrior and leader, Flameheart is a rather smooth, and sometimes silly tom. He's a definite ladies' tom, all flattering words and gentlemanly demeanor when he's interested in a she-cat. However, if his dear friend Hawkeye were to remind him of his uselessness in a downpour... well, he'd sulk. In his little corner, giving her ridiculous puppy eyes. Flameheart has a pretty good sense of humor, and tends to find one cat to rib continuously, enjoying it as a form of banter. His general demeanor could also be called ostentatious. At first glance, Flameheart's confidence seems to leak into the realm of narcissism. He preens and grooms on a regular basis. He can also often be seen lounging about in a patch of sunlight, chatting idly with the elders. Most assume that this is the tom shirking his duties and wasting time. However, Flameheart has learned much about the cats in his Clan, and things they'd rather be secret this way. The elders are happy to tell him what he wants to know, and the she-cats of their number thoroughly enjoy "that rascal." One of the chief reasons that his friends have always been loyal to him above their Clan is that Flameheart's always seen himself as a protector. And, with that role constantly in mind, he reaches out to protect those who are weaker than himself, and thinks very little of his own safety in the process. On the other paw, Flameheart is a skilled manipulator, able to draw others into doing what he wants them to do while appearing to have had no influence on the decision.[/classy] [classy=infotop]history[/classy][classy=infobottom]Flameheart was born to warriors Dappleclaw and Coalnose. He was their only kit, and they adored him. His mother coddled him and groomed his fur, praising it and telling Flamekit how lucky he was to have such a beautiful pelt, how rare it was for a tom to have a pelt like his. She inflated his ego, forming the basis of Flameheart's current cockiness. However, when Flamekit was three moons old, his parents were felled by the greencough that swept through the Clan. The other queen still in the nursery took him in, and he became foster-sibling to Hawk-kit. The two grew close, despite the fact that Hawk-kit was two moons older. Flamekit loved playing make-believe as a ThunderClan all the nursery's own, and always insisted upon being Flamestar. Hawk-kit, he always managed to make his loyal deputy, Hawkeye -- for her "pretty eyes." They gathered a following of loyal "warriors" whose loyalty to their leader stretched beyond their games. When the kits became apprentices, they continued to orient around Flamepaw, who was apprenticed to Hawkpaw's father. He led them in games, chases, and whatever mock-battle their mentors staged. Flamepaw often stayed up late into the night, curled up against Hawkpaw and chattering away about how he'd run the Clan and what he'd do as Flamestar. The calico tom proved to be an excellent fighter, quick and powerful. However... it seemed that rain was his downfall. Try as he might, Flamepaw could never keep up the speed or power that he normally possessed sopping wet. His swift paws were made slow, and his powerful blows reduced to mere nudges. He learned to fight side by side and often back to back with Hawkpaw, who compensated for his weakness automatically, and with such a strong insistence that she often caused him to sulk about it. When he was ten moons old, Hawkpaw became a warrior, called Hawkeye, just as she had been in their make-believe. Flamepaw saw this as a sign from StarClan that he was meant to lead one day. When the time came for his own ceremony, he stood proudly and preened, head held high as they chanted his name. Flameheart's kithood friends still support his bid for leadership, and are helping him fulfill every step he can to qualify for deputyship.[/classy] |
