The air around his pelt felt heavy as he made his way through the underbrush of ThunderClan territory. It was always this way for him, with his thick brown tabby pelt. The only time he had any relief from the unfortunate effects of his pelt, was in the bitterly cold winds of leaf-bare and when it rained. The rain left his pelt heavy and sodden however, and it was met with frustration. Snaking his way through and intricate number of trees nestled closely together, he emerged through the underbrush into a slight clearing free from trees. Opening his mouth, he let the smell of the air waft over his tongue, and then clamped it shut, his teeth meeting in a slight click that resonated in his skull.
Cold claws of aggravation raked through his body as he smelt not a scent of prey on the air. How was he supposed to successfully hunt when he couldn’t even catch a whiff of the smallest morsel of prey? Letting out a growl, he took a swipe at a nearby twig and sent it crashing through the ferns and moss, echoing louder through the trees than he had originally intended. Wincing as a bird called out and took flight, Hawkfire took in a deep breath and let it out in a long drawn out sigh, until all the air was void from his lungs. Unsheathing his claws, he felt them sink into the earth.
With a flick of his tail, he sheathed his claws and turned back to the thicket of trees in which he came and rubbed the right side of his body against a tree. The rough bark scraped soothingly against his skin, and he let a short and shallow purr emanate from deep within his chest. Closing his eyes against the constant green that surrounded him day in and day out, he picked his way back through the forest, opening his mouth and closing it. He never had a hard time trying to find prey, and all this was doing was setting his temper awry. Sitting down on the cool ground, he let his tail flop over his paws.
