The queen slipped out of the nursery quietly, making sure not to waken the other resident queens, Cloudeyes and Brindlestream. Knowing that the camp entrance was guarded by at least one cat, she padded towards dirt place, before finding an opening in the brush and pushed her body through it, although it took quite a bit of effort. She thanked Starclan that night had fallen over the forest, so she would more than likely not be spotted by another cat. She was able to hear herself think now for once and get away from the smells of the nursery. Being alone finally allowed a realization to hit her.
Kitecry was gone.
Brightcloud wasn't sure what had happened to her best friend, her..her mate, but he was gone from Thunderclan. He could be dead, or even taken by Twolegs. What if he ha left the clans all together, not wanting to be a part of this lifestyle, maybe he didn't want to live up to his promise of fathering Brightcloud's kits? There were so many possible answers twirling around in the queen's head that it made her dizzy. She was well past her final moon of pregnancy, and she knew that she should have stayed in the nursery. But she was reckless, and didn't care. Her only friend in the world, was gone. It made the true realization hit her, she couldn't do this alone. She couldn't be a mother by herself, she simply didn't have the mental strength to do so.
She didn't want to take another mate either, it had taken Fogheart's stern words to get her to come to her senses and allow Kitecry to even help her in the first place. Flameheart wasn't a friend to her, she didn't even know what to call the arrogant tom. A rat would probably be the best description. She continued her trek into the dark forest, maybe she should leave the clans as well, become a fat little kittypet. No, I would never do that. She thought to herself, that was crazy. She couldn't picture herself wearing one of those noisy ropes around her neck, and then eating the tasteless, dry food that twolegs presented to their kittypets. It was disgusting.
Just as she was about to take another pawstep, she felt a raging pain deep within her belly. It was abrupt, but vanished as soon as it had appeared. Taking in a deep breath, she thought of it as nothing and continue with her walk, but it wasn't long before the pain came yet again. A yowl of pain escaped the queen, what was this? There was no one attacking her, no unseen predator lurking in the woods. No, this pain was coming from within. The kits.. She thought with a gasp as she crouched onto the forest floor, unable to take another pawstep.
She was far away from camp, she couldn't move so she was unable to run back to the safety of camp, unable to hear the wise words of Thunderclan's medicine cat, Fogheart. Was this karma paying her back for how rude she had been since she had been carrying kits? She didn't have time to think about it, for she was forced to cringe in pain as another wave hit her, why did this have to happen now?
For a moment, she was tempted to blame Kitecry. If he had not have left, she would have still been in camp, and she would have been tended to by the Thunderclan medicine cat almost immediately. But she couldn't blame Kitecry, she knew that he wouldn't have left her without good reason. He had been a good tom, a great friend. No a best friend. Flattening her ears, she was forced to throw away any thoughts for the only thing on her mind was pain.. No cat would hear her out here, she would be forced to deal with her choice to walk in the woods alone.

His yellow gaze flicked to everywhere in the camp. Dark circles surrounded his eyes. It had been Starclan knows how long since his last well-done sleep. Flameheart had either woken him up to do a task for him, or he had been assinged to night watch. Tonight, it just happened to be nightwatch.
Perfect..
Ravenjaw's black and white pelt lay flat on his body as his eyelids dropped shut. They quickly flew back open, only to have them flutter shut again. Flameheart can't be keeping me up every night. I have to get sleep sometimes you know! He angrily yowled at hismelf. But this uis what being friends paid with, so it had to be done. Ravenjaw saw the half-past fullmoon rise, and he went back to camp to awake the next cat, Tallwhiskers, on watch. He pulled him to his feet and shoved him to the right direction. Ravenjaw then processed to walk over to hisown nest, walk around it a few times, and lay down, drifting off into a well earned sleep.
--------------------------------------------------
Crunch, Crackle, Snap
He woke with a start. It had only been a few hours he had been asleep, and someone was out in the woods making a ruckus? Ravenjaw gritted his teeth and went in search of the cat who disturbed his sleep. He got up from his nest and all but flew from the camp. His yellow eyes had dark rings around them, showing the constant lack of sleep. He trodded around the forest in search of the cat who disturbed him, and came upon Brightcloud. Wait...
WHY WAS BRIGHTCLOUD OUT OF CAMP?!
His maind began to panic and he rushed over to the calico femme who was laying on her side, panting heavily. He thought something was wrong with her until he heard a screech. The kits! Thats what the pain was for. He rememered it all to well from Emberkits kitting. He crouched behind Brightcloud and crawled to her face, Shh, Brightcloud it's only me. You need to breathe. Breathe. His calming words had no calm affect on him, since on the inside he was panicing. Would the kits be born ok? Would any of them be stillborn? Would Brightcloud loose to much blood from kitting? Would.. He gulped down the fear. Would Brightcloud die from these kits? He hped not. Something had sparked inside of him when she had offered to take care of Emberkit. That warmed his heart, and made him open up to her. And now..
Now he needed to be there for Brightcloud, and help her with her kits. And pray to Starclan that somehow.. Someway, Foghjeart was going to find them out here, and he would be able to help Brightcloud with the kits. But for now, he whispered calming things in her ear. Waiting on the first kit to come.

Was she going to be alone during this moment of strife? It made sense that things would turn out this way, as she had wanted other cats to leave her be. She had forced herself away from her clanmates, not wanting to get close to anyone. So if she was missing from camp, not very many cats would pay that much attention as to where she had wandered off to, except Fogheart, and Kitecry. She thought as she clenched her teeth, not particularly liking her odds. The pregnant queen was out in midst of the woods, and with it being new leaf, the woods were filled with life, including the likes of hungry foxes, and sneaky badgers. If any one of those creatures were to appear now, she wouldn't be able to defend herself.
Scenting another cat, a tom, she flattened her ears and managed to hiss at this apparent intruder. Yet hearing the familiar voice of Ravenjaw, her clanmate and the tom whom she had pushed away a few suns ago, she relaxed slightly. "R-ravenjaw." She managed to choke out between panicked short breaths. Out of all the cats, she hadn't expected the black and white tom to come to her aid. Sure, she had agreed to take care of his kit, but she had treated the tom rather badly and well, she didn't deserve his help in her opinion. Fortunately, she was in too much pain to argue voice her opinions.
The calico was genuinely afraid. She was kitting around the right time, so it wasn't going to be early or anything like that. Yet she wasn't in the safety of the nursery, nor did she have the aid of a medicine cat. All she had was her own wit, and a warrior who probably knew next to nothing about this sort of thing. She was a fish out of water on this one. "The kits.." She managed to choke out between breaths as she tried to focus on the task at hand. Within moments, a fuzzy calico tom made his way out into the world. Such a handsome tom! But Brightcloud didn't have time to give the long haired tom a name just yet, little did she know she had three more kittens to deliver to the world.
Without Fogheart, her progress could not be efficiently watched, nor did she have the herbs that were essential to kitting. For a brief moment, she remembered her mother, Larksong, who died due to an early kitting and a loss of blood. She too had went into labor while in the woods, and the memory of this frightened the queen. She couldn't leave her kits without a mother, even though their father was a deadbeat tom, she wasn't going allow her children to face the same fate as her little sister, Larkpaw, who was to grow up without a mother or father.
Unsheathing and sheathing her claws she hissed at the tom. "Don't just stand there like a mousebrain! Clean him because I can't right now!" It wasn't like the she-cat to be rude towards others, so if you knew Brightcloud, you'd know that she was usually a sweet, quiet cat. Not this hissing, cursing monster cat. Before she could hiss another comment, another wave hit her and soon enough a fuzzy tortoiseshell tom joined the likes of his brother. The queen, exhausted by her efforts, closed her eyes for a moment, panting. She knew the job was not yet done, although she wouldn't have minded if it had stopped at just two kits. Nope the miracle of birth had only just begun. Exhausted, the queen simply rested on the ground, not willing to continue.

"R-ravenjaw..."
His heart broke. She was to tired to even be mad at him. She she had shunned him a few suns ago, and sure he had a little bit of dislike for her. But she needed him now. She needed his comforting words to her. He licked her ears to help soothe her, and even licked the wrong way to ensure he was at least attempting to soothe the she-cat. But she needed the warm nursery, not the chilly, pinching wind of the forest. Ravenjaw flinched as she had another contraction and prayed to starclan Fogheart would just take a stroll and find them.
"The kits..."
He nodded at Brightcloud and shushed her. "I know, Brightcloud. Just don't talk. Save your energy." He murmured in her ear. Ravenjaw gently pressed a paw down on her belly, and felt kits squirming and smiled. Even though they weren't his, he still felt the need to father them, to.. to at least have the father-figure that each and every kit craved and deserved. Brightcloud let out another wail and he snapped back to her, her blue eyes flowed with nothing but pain.
His own yellow eyes betrayed him. They shone with fear and the smell of it all but poured from his pelt. He watched as she howled in pain. Why must Brightcloud be in so much pain? Of course kitting was going to be painful but.. really? Tears almost sprang to his eyes as he watched her writh in pain. But finally, the miracle of life happened and a lone kit was born, a pale calico tom. He smiled, but not wanting to hurt the kit, he left it there. until Brightcloud snapped.
"Don't just stand there like a mousebrain! Clean him because I can't right now!"
He nodded frantically and took the pale kit and licked away the sac he was in, and then began to lick his softly, as to not to hurt him. Reliazing that he wasn't breathing yet, he started to panic. He tried to remeber what Fogheart had told him at Goldensongs kitting. "Remember, when you clean the kit to bring it to life, lick the fur the wrong way, it kickstarts their body to bring them out of the a coma like state." He al;l but smacked himself. I'm licking the kit the wrong way! He hurriedly started to lick the kit the other direction, and began to hear it mewling. Grinning, he picked up the kit by the scruff and gently laid him against Brightcloud stomache so he could feed. Once that was done, Brightcloud wailed again.
Another kit! He smiled and whispered encourging words to Brightcloud. "Come on love, just a few more kits and then your done." He whispered. and waited for the next kit. It seemed to be forever until he was born. Another tom, but this was a bright calico. He grinned and began to clean the kit. These kits were gunna be gorgeous, and serve good play-mates for Emberkit. She wouldn't think any different since emberkit was a calico. Ravenjaw smiled as he finished cleaning the kit and placed him at his mothers stomache.
He turned back to Brightcloud just in time to see her flutter her eyes shut. Oh no... He started to panic, and his breathign began to get faster by the second. SHe couldn't fall. He needed her, her kits needed her. Emberkit needed her. Thunderclan needed her. Everyone needed her. Ravenjaw began to full-out bawl, and raced to her side. He licked her ear and down her neck and licked her forehead. Tears dripped onto her wetting her face, making it harder for him to see. "Brightcloud open your eyes. You still have some kits who need you. You can't just fall. Wake up come on." His emotion filled his voice as it cracked several times. His yellow eyes stung and watched in horror as she laid there, slowly passing out. What was he going to do?
What were the kits going to do?

She had not yet lost conscious, not quite. Maternal instincts kicked in when she heard the mewls of the tiny kittens that nestled at her belly. Blue eyes opened slowly and she craned her neck slightly so that she could see her children. They were so small, so helpless. They were lucky to even be alive, seeing that she hadn't taken care of herself during the first moon of pregnancy. It was a miracle, a blessing if you will and to throw away something like this? She couldn't let herself wallow in her grief over Kitecry, nor could she work herself up into a rage over the likes of Flameheart. No, she was to be a mother, and she would give life to this kits.
The queen's fully came to her sense when she felt water on her face, looking over she saw Ravenjaw crying?. Why was this tom crying? The warrior puzzled the she-cat, it was strange how much he cared for her and her kits, even though she hadn't thrown so much as a look his way the last few suns, with the exception of a few rude remarks. She didn't have that much time to question his actions, for another kit joined the likes of the world, this time, a calico she-cat. Unknown to Brightcloud as of yet, the little female was a spitting image of her father, Flameheart.
At this point, the spotted queen was far beyond the boundaries of exhaustion, she couldn't even think of a word that could describe how tired she was. "So tired..." She meowed breathlessly. One kit, sure, but four? How in Starclan did anyone expect her to be able to birth four little mewling mouths? Using the last bit of strength, a calico tom finally joined his siblings. With that, Brightcloud finally felt as if she was done with the whole miracle of birth, there were no more kits in her belly. She had successfully kitted. She was now a mother, and the realization hit the queen hard. Shifting, she managed to grab the last kit and clean him up by licking his fur the wrong way before placing him at her belly with the other spotted kittens.
A chilly breeze blew through the area, sending a chill up the queen's spine. If she was cold, it was almost a sure thing that her kits were probably freezing. She couldn't make her way back to camp, not just yet. Shifting her deep blue gaze, she found the face of Ravenjaw. "Thank you so much, Ravenjaw." She meowed softly as she looked over to her nursing kits. Despite the circumstances, all the kits appeared healthy and happy.
Why couldn't all toms be like Ravenjaw? Responsible, caring, and mature. Brightcloud remembered that Ravenjaw too had lost his mate, and her heart went out to him. She regretted treating him the way she did, seeing as she had also lost Kitecry, of course the warrior would understand how she felt, he had went through the same thing. But this realization caused the queen to look at the warrior in a new light. Was this love at second sight?
Shaking her head, she pushed the thoughts out of her head. "The kits will catch cold, they need to be in the nursery." Brightcloud sounded selfless, she wanted her children to get to the camp before she, they deserved at least that much. Unfortunately, two cats weren't going to be able to carry four kits back to camp, which cause the calico to panic, fear scent radiating off of her in waves. There was no way she would leave the remaining kits behind, alone, in the forest while they took the other two back to camp. Anything could happen, they could get eaten by a fox, torn apart by a badger, or even carried off by a hawk! The forest was dangerous, especially when you were a blind, and deaf newborn kit. What were they going to do?
