A mass of wind or water, swirling and whirling it's way around the tom. A vortex. Thats what it was. A vortex of confusion slapping the tom in the face every few seconds. Whenever he even thought about nodding off, memories would wash over him, spinning him into a world of hurt he hated to re-visit. The problem was, he didn't know why this had started to occur. He'd suppressed his kithood the best he could, trying to remain positive, and yet in the past few days he was haunted by it. Something churned in Wildfang's gut, like spoiled fresh-kill and he growled to himself. This would do.
So making his way out of the den before the sun had even risen, he dashed off towards the great sycamore. Perhaps a nice walk in the crisp morning air might be able to cool my head. he thought. Though somehow he knew it wouldn't. Still as the sycamore came into view a little shard of hoped wedged it's way in and he smiled. "Maybe today can still be a good day." Wildfang mused aloud. Slowing his pace, though still brisker than most ThunderClan cats, he heaved a sigh of relief.
Alone. Perhaps that was what he needed. To be alone for a while, to cast away these mangy thoughts that kept worming into his belly. Morning dew clung to his paws and he shook the moisture away, letting his green gaze travel to the sky. "Oh StarClan...why must you be so silent lately?" he meowed, eyes darkening. Lately he had begun to lose faith in his ancestors, not that he would ever admit that. No. Just smile and pretend everything was alright, that was the way. He stilled acted like a clown to his clan, and stilled charmed his way into the hearts of young cats, but all felt meaningless.
"Ugh." a hiss escaped from him. This walk wasn't helping at all, if anything it was bringing up more issues that his mind just couldn't take. Clawing the ground he heaved himself into the air and sunk his claws into the bark of the tree. This felt good. Solid. Something real to take his mind of what was not.
