LINK[/classy] [classy=infotop]personality[/classy][classy=infobottom]doegaze is fairly open about her blindness, unlike her former mentor. she enjoys explaining to others how she uses her other senses, but she only does it if they promise to describe something around them. it doesn't matter what; perhaps it is a tree, a rock, a piece of freshkill. she wants to gradually be able to paint pictures in her head when she touches something. being blind doesn't deteriorate her warrior spirit, however it does prompt her to take more risks. perhaps to prove to others that she can do it, or maybe to herself. she still wants to do it all, no matter what it is. she particularly enjoys the challenge of hunting, but usually catches less than the average warrior. only to herself would she admit that it bothered her. doegaze has one of the sharpest tongues one may come across. she's very defensive and knows how to use her words. sometimes she seems to be missing the filter that goes between her mind and her mouth, and she can come off as rude. unfortunately, she gets jealous very easily. she might not show it but it swirls inside of her often. she wants to see what others see and wants to be able to take runs in the forest without tripping on every root. most of all, she wants to live her life like any other warrior, but in her heart she knows she never will. she also knows she will have to suck it up and deal with it or get left behind in the dust.[/classy] [classy=infotop]history[/classy][classy=infobottom]her parents were an older couple when they first had doekit and her brother, bark-kit. their son looked as though he was a clone of his father, with large, powerful muscles and a handsome, fluffy dark coat. to top it off, he had dashing green eyes, the only difference from mudstep and him. doekit, on the other paw, was a spitting image of her mother. the two she-cats even had matching sets of blue eyes. soon after the kits' birth, though, it became apparent that doekit was unable to see. it was difficult during the first few moons of her life, being constantly tucked away in the nursery while her brother escaped outside. however, guilt soon pulled him back in and he learned to enjoy spending time with his impaired sibling. their mother kept close distance with them at all times. soon the duo of siblings became doepaw and barkpaw. her brother excelled especially in hunting, but he was an all-around talented little tom. well, not so little anymore. he was one of the largest in the den, even at the beginning of their journeys as apprentices. doepaw struggled, as expected, but she was lucky enough to have been paired with another blind senior warrior, just on the brink of retiring to the elder's den. unlike her, however, he hadn't been born blind. an injury that he never fully explained to her had impaired his vision. doepaw pushed herself. the first moon she spent alone with her mentor, warblercall. he trained with a tight grip but just enough kindness for the young apprentice to take a liking to him. he taught her how to use the vibrations that other cats' movements sent through the ground to her advantage. doepaw had been proud of her accomplishments and urged warblercall to let her train with the other apprentices. he agreed, but she could hear the little hesitation behind his stoic mask. he'd been right. she was fast, but she still wasn't good enough at sensing motions. the rest of the apprentices had knocked her around all day before they just showed her some mercy by not trying as hard. that whole morning had crushed her spirits. barkpaw finally interrupted and quietly padded back to camp with her. she laid in her moss bedding, curled up by her brother. she was grateful when she said nothing about her watery eyes. it had been a learning experience, though. the next day she marched up to warblercall (she could still feel the waves of guilt pulsing from him) and demanded that he take her out to practice again. he had smirked but went with it. over the next few moons, she remained focused. she made herself aware of her surroundings by using her remaining senses. soon enough she had passed her final assessment, and though she still didn't catch as much as any other apprentice, she earned her warrior name along with her brother. doepaw was deemed doegaze and barkpaw was now barkfrost.
